Vivienne Saxton, Head of Dance & Teacher Training, was trained at the Royal Ballet School. She has been an examiner since 1982, firstly for the RAD and now for the Imperial Classical Ballet and National Dance Faculties of the ISTD.
MPAA was one of the first Approved Dance Centres (ADCs) recognised by the ISTD for their teacher training. We offer the Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) Level 4 in Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre & Tap. This includes all the units generic and genre-specific. This qualification is accredited by Ofqual.
Our tutors are all highly specialised in their field with the majority being Fellows and Examiners of the ISTD. These courses are offered to both full and part-time students. Since these qualifications were introduced by the ISTD over 10 years ago, we have successfully trained teachers who are now tutoring the work of the ISTD worldwide.
Street Jazz Associate
MPAA is delighted to be pioneering this new teaching qualification offered by the ISTD. This course is run by Holly Penny.
This is a one year course, which takes place in the 3rd year of training
The course covers- the study of core Street Dance styles – Popping, Locking and Breaking.
We take an in-depth look at the foundation steps of these three styles and how they were developed. We also look at the musical influence, the history behind the steps, the area the style was created as well as the creators of the steps.
