Lee Freeman

Lee Freeman is a Musical Director, Composer, Arranger/Orchestrator and a Vocal Coach.

After initially studying music at The BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology, Lee went on to further his training at the University of Surrey.

Lee is currently the Musical Director for CHOIR OF MAN at the Arts Theatre, West End.

Musical Director credits include: Our House (Southwark Playhouse – NYMT), Cool Rider 10th Anniversary (London Palladium); Grease (Royal Caribbean); Noise Boys(NCL); Hairspray (Royal Caribbean); Jack and the Beanstalk, Sleeping Beauty (Theatre Royal Stratford East); Cool Rider (Lyric/Duchess Theatre – West End); Ushers: The Front of House Musical (Charing Cross Theatre); Copacabana (UK Tour); Spelling Bee (UK Tour); Legally Blonde (Pleasance Theatre); Lucky Stiff (Sadlers Wells); The Last Five Years (Chiswick Playhouse); Jewish Legends(Upstairs at the Gatehouse); Moby Dick The Musical (Union Theatre); Miracle on 34th Street (UK Tour); Prom Queen (The Other Palace); Cinderella (White Rock Theatre). Lee was also the musical supervisor for Imagine This (Union Theatre).

Composer credits include: Three Musketeers: Trois (Barn Theatre); Treasure Island (Barn Theatre), Proud (Turbine Theatre. “Proud” is currently in development); Signposts and Diversions (Off-Broadway); Chat! The Internet Musical (Edinburgh Fringe Festival); Bent (Landor/Tabard Theatre) and “The Music of Lee Freeman” Page to Stage Season, produced by Aria Entertainment.

In 2011 and 2013, Lee was a finalist in the Stiles and Drewe Best Song Award competition that recognises an outstanding song from a new musical written by a member of Mercury Music Developments. He was also (with his writing partner) a finalist for the Stiles and Drewe Mentorship Award 2023.

Orchestration credits include: Three Musketeers: Trois (Barn Theatre); Cool Rider 10th Anniversary (London Palladium); NYMT at Wimbledon (Wimbledon Tennis Tournament) Treasure Island (Barn Theatre), Cool Rider (Original Cast Recording and Live show); Moby Dick The Musical (Union Theatre); There Is More To Love (University of Oklahoma); Chat! The Internet Musical (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and West End Bares(London). As an Orchestrator/Arranger, Lee works with Proud Cabaret on several of their shows which include; Duncan James All Stars, Denise Van Outen All Stars, Claire Sweeney All Stars, West Side Cabaret and Flirty Dancing.

Television Credits include: Ru Pauls Drag Race (Season 6 Pianist); Even Better Than The Real Thing Vocal Coach (BBC).

As a vocal coach Lee has also provided coaching at a number of top vocational Musical Theatre colleges such as; Arts Educational, Bird College, Laine Theatre Arts and The Royal Central of Speech and Drama. In addition to his coaching, Lee also works as a private repertoire and singing coach with clients going into shows such as; Matilda, Les Miserables, Hairspray, La Bamba and many more.

Lee is also a trained Vocal Health First Aider.
